Actually, Wikipedia informs me that they are calcium carbide deposits. I thought it was rather a lot for bird droppings, even during nesting season!

Haha, thats a fantstic shot, so unusual to see our coastline from the sea rather than the seascape shots from the shore.
Where you out there in a row boat?! How do you get these shots? Lovely.
I went on a boat trip on a boat similar to a small fishing trawler.
My photo 'Glad Tidings III' shows the front of such a boat. I can't remember if that's the same boat I went on, or another in the company.
